The Ouarzazate Cinema Museum, which started as a filming facility in 1981 by Italian film companies, was officially opened on July 30, 2007.
The museum is located in front of the Kasbah of Taourirte and next to the city's artisanal complex. It covers 2 hectares and has several sets of films linked to the history of the Bible and that of the great films shot in the region.
The museum was designed to be a site to preserve cinematographic memory, to increase tourism in the city, and a venue for cultural and artistic activities.
